(…) We navigated its coast, and steered W.S.W. where we encountered a small inhabited island called Mazava, the people are friendly. There we put a cross on a mountaintop, from where we were shown three islands W.S.W. of us, where they say there is much gold. They showed us how they find small nuggets the size of beans and lentils, this island is 9°⅓ latitude N.
